Saturday 7th November saw the band take part in their second contest of the year. After not being in a position to contest for over 4 years the band took part in the Cornwall Brass Band Association’s contest held at Penryn back in April and came a very creditable 4th. Saturday 7th November was the 63rd annual contest of the South West Brass Band Association held in Torquay. The band started the day’s proceedings off after being drawn number one and soon settled into their stride on the stage giving a very good performance. As a result the band were awarded 3rd place out of the 8 competing bands. Many people commented on how good it was to see the band back on the contesting circuit, and how musical the band’s performance was. Here’s looking forward to the future.
The Band were on impressive form at their annual Christmas Concert held at the Indian Queens Working Men's Club on Friday 18th December. As well as the usual mixture of festive music, the band wanted to celebrate what has been a fantastic year for them and treated the audience to fine renditions of both test pieces used this year, Windermere Suite & Four Little Maids. The Junior band also entertained the audience with music that had won them prizes at local music festivals and Christmas music. Many members of the audience commented on how much the Senior band has improved over the last year and how much that they had enjoyed what was an entertaining evening. The band and committee would like to thank everyone who has supported us this year and take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Congratulations on birth of baby girl. Congratulations to Andrew and Karen Richards on the birth of their daughter Amilee. Best wishes go to you both from all of the band and committee. Hope to see Andrew back at rehearsals in the near future (the rest of the solo cornet line is missing you).
